FAQS
You Ask - I Answer
HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?
A typical therapy session lasts 50 minutes.
CAN I DO MY TELEHEALTH SESSION FROM ANYWHERE?
Not Quite. Due to state licensing laws, you need to be physically located in the state of Kentucky at the time of your telehealth appointment. It's important that you are in a location with a good internet connection to minimize disruption during the call and that you are in a location where you have privacy during your appointment. Other than that you can feel free to log on for your session wherever you feel most comfortable (e.g., your bedroom, your kitchen, your car, your office, etc.).
DO YOU ACCEPT MY HEALTH INSURANCE?
I do not accept any insurance, and thus work within a self-pay agreement with clients. Self-pay services allow clients increased privacy and control over their treatment. Due to this freedom, I can offer more specific, individualized treatment for clients. We can work together, intuitively and creatively, to find an approach that works best for you, without interference. Self-pay services offer several benefits to both the provider & the client:
-
I am not bound by the insurance company’s confines of having to report a specific diagnosis. I am able to help people who struggle in parts of their life and need guidance and will truly benefit from therapy but may not meet the full criteria for a diagnosis.
-
We avoid insurance companies seeking information about your treatment, documenting information, or limiting our work together in any way, such as treatment plans or number of sessions.
-
Insurance companies frequently limit coverage for psychological testing by limiting the number of hours they will cover or listing common concerns such as ADHD and learning disorders as plan exclusions. Often times they require time-consuming authorization processes before services can begin and even then do not guarantee coverage.
DO YOU PROVIDE AUTISM EVALUATIONS?
No, I am not able to offer psychological testing to determine whether a person is Autistic or meets diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder. This type of evaluation is outside my area of expertise.
